Are Bad Teeth Hereditary?
By Dr Jess
Bad teeth is NOT hereditary….
But the bacteria that cause holes ARE CONTAGIOUS!
Streptococcus mutans is one of the biggest culprits for causing dental decay. These bacteria are easily “shared” within a family by sharing spoons, kissing, borrowing dummies and so on. If one person in the family has untreated decay then the risk of other family members also developing holes becomes much higher. But don’t give up hope!! There are lots of simple things you can do to help shift the balance of good and bad bacteria in your mouth. Come in and chat to Dr Jess or Dr Henry about how you can get the good bugs on your side.
